He had heard tales of a witch with enough gold to buy even a man’s soul, a tormented murderer of a playwright, or a king who would sacrifice his own daughters for power. Whatever force had brought their paths together, Olberic didn’t know, but fate seemed to put him and his band against tyrants on a regular basis. The brown haired apothecary seemed rather young to be the bearer of such power, but who was he to question the gods? The chosen had a good heart, though, so he had vowed to lend him his strength for as long as he needed it.Īnd he had needed it.
The Ringbearer Chosen was a nice enough person, he thought, casting a glance at their unassuming leader. It was a fantastical tale, one the scholars would no doubt love to hear, but even he could scarcely believe the things he’d seen. Still, it wasn’t the first time he’d travelled with others, nor would it be the last, and the cause was a good one. Matters concerning the fates of entire kingdoms. A goal set, and an enemy to neutralise, if not kill. Oh, he had travelled to various places and back again, but never like this.
Olberic stretched, his back muscles somewhat sore, apparently not entirely used to life on the road again. (See the end of the work for more notes.) I've only played CotC, and my knowledge for the OG crew comes solely from Youtube, CotC, and the lovely, lovely fanfics of others here. I'm not used to writing for the OG Octopath crew, so please forgive any errors. Having these two in the game feels like the superhero conundrum all over again - surely a mask wouldn't be enough to hide someone's identity so perfectly, especially to one who knows them well, so how would Olberic feel about Lars/Wrath in this situation? Fortunately, I may have found a way around it, so here it is. This idea hasn't left me alone since both Olberic and Lars/Wrath were added to the game, but I've always held off on writing it because I didn't know which name to use. I know it's probably been done before, but this is my take on a missing scene between Olberic and Lars/Wrath.
